Shopping online is becoming much more prevalent these days for various reasons: Gas prices, taxes, consumer-friendly prices. Personally, I shop online as often as possible for all these reasons.
Amazon.com
This is a great place to shop. Amazon.com has prices that are most often less than typical retailers and unless you're in WA or KY, there's no sales tax. The sales tax where I live has recently gone over 10% so it's a huge savings. And if you order only $25 from Amazon, the shipping is usually free. Now how can you beat that?
In addition, Amazon is now offering a free trial for it's Prime program. Amazon Prime offers unlimited free two-day shipping on millions of projects, overnight shipping is only $3.99 per item, no minimum purchase and the ability to share benefits with up to 4 household members.
Canceling is easy as well. Under your account, click the manage Amazon Prime link and set to do not renew. Nice and simple. If you want to keep the program, it’s $79 per year, worth it if you shop there often.
Deals on the Internet
There are a lot of web sites out there that allow you to find deals. A lot of them are great but automating their processes and letting the users take over have bogged down a lot of them. Or sometimes they're out of date. Sometimes, there's just too much information?
Sites that I visit frequently, and others recommended by my other practical real-life friends are: Slickdeals.net, Dealcatcher.com, FatWallet.com
